Akerman Garage TodayThe Building Today
In downtown Arcadia on Lake Street just west of the Arcadia Post Office is the building that was once the Akerman Garage. The boarded area on the east wall of the building is where autos entered for repair service from a parking area where the Post Office is today.

Over the years, this building has had many proprietors: Wilson's Garage; Arcadia Garage and Sales Company owned by Louis Kuenzer, who sold Ford automobiles; and Akerman's garage and Mobil Gas Station. The boarded area on the east wall of the building is where autos entered for repair service. In the early 1980s, the Birdland Realty office occupied the building. After that, Arcadia Propeller Service used the building. Today the building is used simply for storage.
