This exhibit describes early sawmills in the area and three in Arcadia itself. The exhibit also includes a variety of lumbering tools used locally.
Arcadia Lumber Company Sawmill This view is from the north end of Lake Arcadia looking south. The Arcadia Lumber Company's sawmill is on the left in an area known today as "the point." The channel to Lake Michigan is behind the sawmill and to the right.
Animated View: Lumbering Exhibit On the left outside the display case are tools used to move logs. The posters on top of the case summarize the history of area sawmills. The display case is filled with lumbering tools. At the far end is a log with the Starke log mark. Heavy chains wrap the bottom of the display. (4 images, 5 second delay)
